Benefits of Regularly Practicing Yoga

Yoga is often considered as less-challenging exercise or sleepy type exercise. But don’t get it wrong. Yoga has so many benefits if you practice yoga regularly. It seems to be less intense than body pump, TRX, or body combat. But, you won’t know if you don’t try it, right?

 

If you’re too lazy to go to the gym, you can do this at home. All you need is a mat (and motivation).

 

#1 Improves your sleep

After yoga, your body feels super tired and all your body needs is to get some rest. And when you wake up, it feels like you had the best sleep in your life.  

 

#2 Improves your flexibility

Yoga improves your body to more flexible. But you won’t gain that flexibility after your first yoga. To get more flexible, you need to do yoga regularly three or four times a week. Benefits of having a flexible body is that will make you easier to move, and not easily to get pain.

 

#3 Strengthens your muscle

If you have seen someone do difficult yoga poses, it felt so easy. But when you want to try the same pose, it feels like hell. It turns out not as easy as it looks. Regularly practice yoga will strengthen your muscle. Strong muscle doesn’t have to be bulky. TBH, just because someone has bulky muscle, doesn’t mean he/she can do yoga. In my place where I practice yoga, the instructor doesn’t have a lean or skinny body. She even doesn’t look like a someone who is expert on yoga.

 

#4 Improves your posture

Poor body posture can cause back, neck, muscle, or joints problem. Especially if you sit in front of a computer for a long time. If you don’t believe it, you can watch this video below.

#5 Makes you happier

Consistent yoga practice will increase the happiness level. Even better if you combine it with running. Besides happiness, your immune system will have better function.

 

#6 Makes you look younger

Regularly yoga practice will increase the hormone that keeps you to stay young and slow down the aging process. If you want to look younger, you need to practice regularly four to five times a week. As the time goes by, your muscle mass will decrease by 15% every decade. But, if you regularly practice yoga, when you’re 60 years old you will have the same body when you’re twenty. No wonder that Anjasmara is still looking ridiculously handsome (he already has a grandkid now).

 

#7 Improves your focus

Yoga will make you be less distracted by your thoughts. Studies show that yoga also improves coordination, reaction time, memory, and even IQ. Yoga will improve your mind to be more focus.  

 

#8 Improves your balance

Practicing yoga regularly will increase proprioception (the ability to feel what your body is doing and where it is in space). Also, yoga will improve your balance. By increasing the balance of the body, then the chances of pain in the back and knees will be reduced.
